DR ELSJE VAN BERGEN INTERVIEWED BY A LEADING UK MAGAZINE FOR TEACHERS -TES MAGAZINE- ABOUT  HER WORK ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LITERACY SKILLS AND ENJOYMENT

Reading for pleasure: is it in your genes?

New research suggests that some differences in literacy skill and enjoyment can be explained by genetics. Tes Magazine talks to Dr Elsje van Bergen, who is part of the LEARN! 'Educational neuroscience, learning and development' team, to find out more. Van Bergen set out to investigate the link between literacy skill and enjoyment.

“If you look at the good readers, 43 per cent of them say they like reading. Around 23 per cent of average readers and 4 per cent of very poor readers say they do, too.”
