Grants for Prof.dr. Martijn Meeter, dr. Anne de Bruijn, dr. Femke van der Wilt, and dr. Elsje van Bergen


 NEWS FROM THE LEARNING SCIENCES PROGRAMME

 

  • Prof.dr. Martijn Meeter has been awarded a competitive Open Competition grant from NWO.
  • Dr. Christophe Cauchi has received a Fyssen Foundation postdoc grant to work with Prof. Martijn Meeter.
  • Jan Baan and Melvin Vooren have joined the program as assistant professors, and Ralf van Griethuijsen has joined the program as a postdoc.
  • May Liu has started a PhD position, funded by the CSC grant from the Chinese government to work together with Prof.dr. Martijn Meeter and Prof.dr. Nienke van Atteveldt.
  • Anne de Bruijn has joined the editorial board of Jeugd in School en Wereld (JSW).
  • Debby ten Hove has joined the program as an assistant professor, with a focus on methodology and statistics.
  • Annelies Brocken has started a postdoctorship to work with Anne de Bruijn and colleagues on the evaluation of BeweegWijs.

Elsje van Bergen (LEARN!) Receives Fuding for GenEd

 Elsje van Bergen (Biological Psychology) and two Norwegian colleagues just received €1.2 million grant funding to study why dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD run in families. Together with Monica Melby-Lervåg and Fartein Torvik, Elsje forms an interdisciplinary team to tackle this question from educational sciences, psychology, public health, and behaviour genetics. The project, called GenEd, is funded by the Research Council of Norway. The success rate for this round was 6%. The press release (in Norwegian) can be found here.

Anne de Bruijn and Femke van der Wilt Win NRO Grants

Anne de Bruijn and Femke van der Wilt have won one of the tenders for “evaluating  promising interventions in primary and secondary education” (from NRO, approximately €350,000 each). As part of this project, Anne will investigate an intervention for more physical activity during breaks at primary schools, and Femke will evaluate a program intended to strengthen oral language in kindergartners. Both researchers will collaborate with Prof.dr. Martijn Meeter and Dr. Chiel van der Veen.
