NEW SCIENTIFIC DIRECTOR OF LEARN!
As of December 1, Prof. Nienke van Atteveldt will start as scientific director of the LEARN! research institute, taking over from Prof. Melanie Ehren.
“This new position starts for me almost ten years after I started working at the VU as an assistant professor in the then Educational Neuroscience section. I now work as a professor at Clinical Developmental Psychology, still with the same research ambition to connect disciplines and perspectives to investigate complex issues related to education and child development. This ambition fits in very well with the mission of LEARN! to bring together researchers from behavioural biology, social sciences, medical and educational sciences to better understand learning and development. I have enjoyed being involved with LEARN! as a program leader for years and especially appreciate the opportunities that the institute offers to make contacts outside your own section, department and university to learn from each other. This facilitation of interdisciplinary research with relevance for practice and policy is one of the strengths of LEARN!. I look forward to contributing even more to this in this new role.”
