Abstract
Dr. Miglani will present from her most recent project on education well-being, where she explores how well-being in contemporary cultures has become an 'educational' concern. She asks how do we learn to be well? More importantly, how do we teach others to be well? What are the possible pedagogies of well-being? From an 18 month multi-sited ethnography, conducted in parts of India and the United States, Dr. Miglani will present her insights from a social emotional learning (SEL) initiative in Delhi, the capital state of India. Through empirical evidence she demonstrates both the promise and dangers of SEL initiatives in schools. She will also draw out implications for relevant policy in different contexts.
