NEWS FROM THE LEARNING SCIENCES PROGRAM:

Members of the Learning Sciences program received a ZonMw subsidy

Eline Heppe, Ilja Cornelisz, and Chris van Klaveren received a ZonMw subsidy to exploit the recent developments in Big Data Analytics. The subsidy will enable them to use large-scale data, collected by municipalities, health insurers, general practitioners, and other agencies to identify trends, problems, and differences in more detail. This knowledge will contribute to the development of effective support (including interventions and policy measures) to improve successful education and labour market participation of people with sensory disabilities.

Anne Fleur Kortekaas-Rijlaarsdam collaborated on the application for the National Growth Fund (Groeifonds)

On February 3rd, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) submitted an application for the National Growth Fund (Groeifonds)  to improve the infrastructure for post-initial teacher professionalisation in the Netherlands. This application was submitted together with the Dutch Universities (Universiteiten van Nederland), Society of University of Applied Sciences (Vereniging Hogescholen), councils (PO, VO, MBO), unions and teacher associations. The aim of this application is to develop a strong infrastructure with more nationally acknowledged career pathways for teachers and a system to secure the appropriateness, quality and transparency of professionalisation trajectories offered to teachers and school teams.

The application was written in close collaboration with a writing group, consisting of a LEARN! Member Anne Fleur Kortekaas-Rijlaarsdam, Marco Snoek (HvA), Jan van Tartwijk (UU), Fred Janssen (ICLON), Anje Ros (Fontys), Helma Oolbekkink-Merchand (HAN). What is more, Anne Fleur Kortekaas-Rijlaarsdam and Marco Snoek will give a keynote lecture about teacher professionalisation and the proposed infrastructure at the Velon Conference in March.
